Many women who’ve had abortions say they felt some level of pressure—whether subtle or strong—to go through with it. It’s important to know that you have the right to decide what happens with your pregnancy. No one—not a partner, boyfriend, spouse, or even a parent—has the legal right to force, pressure, or blackmail you into having a medical or surgical abortion. If you’re worried about being pressured or feel unsupported in your decision, reach out to someone at our center. We can advocate for you and explain your legal rights.

If someone is pressuring you (also called coercion), you have options. Schedule an appointment to talk with a trained consultant about your choices and legal rights. If you feel unsafe or are concerned for your safety or your baby’s safety, call 911 immediately.

If you’re thinking about abortion, your first step is a consultation and ultrasound.

Before scheduling an abortion, an ultrasound will help determine:

1. How your pregnancy is progressing: This information is important because it affects which abortion method you’re eligible for. The type of procedure and costs depend on your health history and how far along you are.

2. If your pregnancy is viable: The only way to know for sure if your pregnancy is progressing is through an ultrasound. Studies show that up to 1 in 4 pregnancies may not progress, and some women don’t realize they’ve had a miscarriage until it’s seen on an ultrasound. If you’ve miscarried, you’ll need follow-up care from a doctor.

An ultrasound gives you the information you need to make the best decision for your situation.

The cost of an abortion depends on the type of procedure you’re eligible for and whether the abortion pill is an option based on how far along you are. Costs can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Before making any decisions, it’s important to know how far your pregnancy has progressed. An ultrasound can confirm this information. While our center does not provide or refer for pregnancy terminations, we offer free limited, non-diagnostic ultrasounds to help you understand your options.

We provide free ultrasounds to check if your pregnancy is viable and to determine how far along you are. As a community-funded 501(c)3 nonprofit, we don’t profit from your ultrasound or your pregnancy decision. Another benefit of getting a limited, non-diagnostic ultrasound with us is that since there’s no cost, nothing will show up on your insurance or be billed to you.

Your ultrasound information is completely confidential. We’re here to support you as you explore your options in a safe, judgment-free environment.
